Horror Parody within the Music Industry

Here is the official music video to the epic rock band Foo Fighter's song Everlong.

This, directed by Michel Gondry, is supposed to be a parody of the older cult horror film Evil Dead.
The film was directed by Sam Raimi, and is the story of a group of friends that take a trip to the woods, where they unknowingly release a few flesh eating demons, which you could say is quite a clique if it were to be used in horror films now.
The video involves the lead singer and the drummer as a couple, and in most of the video they are in a cabin in the middle of the woods, which is the parts that are the most like Evil Dead.
From the sound of the song, you would have thought it to be music realted to horror, and that's why it is seen as more of a parody to the film, as with most most music videos by Foo Fighters, they are very comedic.
If you were to have a quick think about it, stereotypical music for horror films would be very heavy and deep, more in the genres of heavy metal and heavy rock then pop or jazz.
However, as shown in this video it can be lighter. With most horror films the beginning or parts of the film will either show a back story that doesnt involve murders or there will be a lag in the killing for a few minutes. The heavier music would not be relavent for these scenes, so mellower music like this would be appropriate.
